While the Z was pretty expensive @ 45k which put it out of reach of the mid/high end consumer and killed sales, the GTR price point caters to a much more affluent crowd that's still able to live a 'luxury' lifestyle. Also, the GTR isn't being mass manufactured like the Z was back then. Nissan was expecting continued volume sales on the Z and didn't get them. The GTR isn't programmed the same way for sales. In the big scheme of things, having a few sitting around waiting for sales doesn't impact Nissan's bottom line as much as the lack of Z32 sales did. But Nissan thinks like Nissan and not like Porsche, so there's still the possibility they won't leave it out there and let it ride in smaller qts.
